A few weeks ago the kids and I did a quick trip to Oregon. My sister-in-law, Lara, is from Oregon. Every summer she goes to Oregon to visit her parents. Lara goes to Oregon for a few weeks and my brother goes up for about half the time.
This year I was lucky enough to go up for a day to visit with them and let our kids play! We were hoping to go up on a Saturday so Chris could go, but sadly that didn’t work out. I decided that even if Chris couldn’t go it would be worth it for me to go without him!
The kids and I woke up early and headed south. Luckily Lara’s family lives near Portland, which is close to WA. The trip was about 3 1/2 hours so not bad at all! The trip down was so pretty! I was lucky and didn’t have any traffic at all! The kids played with their tablets and I listened to good ol’ Taylor Swift! The kids were SO excited to see their cousin Remmy, Aunt Lara and Uncle James. They had been looking forward to it for weeks. Right when we got out of the car they went looking for Remmy. These three love playing together and it is SO fun to watch them!
We were even lucky and Uncle Preston and Aunt Emma did a video call with us! It was fun getting an update on the kids’ soon to be born cousin Parker!
Aunt Lara made us lunch and we ate and visited. Finally the kids couldn’t wait anymore and we were able to jump in the pool! The kids loved swimming and had a great time with Uncle James and Aunt Lara throwing them. Ryan finally got brave enough to go underwater and he decided that he actually liked it!
After swimming we ordered pizza. The weather was perfect and we were able to eat outside! James and Lara got the pizza. I went to grab my wallet to give them some cash for my share, but realized I had left my purse at home! I never leave anywhere without it, but somehow managed to leave it at home when I went on a small road trip a lone. I’m glad I noticed then because I did not have enough gas to get home! James and Lara were nice enough to spot me some cash so I could fill up and make it home! Luckily the trip home was uneventful. Equally pretty, and again I avoided traffic! It ended up being a perfect quick trip to see some of my favorite people!
Thanks for hosting James and Lara. We miss you guys already and can’t wait to see you again!
